![]() | Chris HoyChris Hoy is the owner of Hoy’s Martial Arts Academy. Beginning his martial arts training at the age of 12, he studied various styles of Chinese and Japanese martial arts before becoming involved in the styles of Filipino kali and Indonesian silat in 1992. Mr. Hoy is a certified Magda Institute Association instructor and continues to train with various members of the Jeet Kune Do family. Chris opened this first U.S. branch school of the Magda Institute Association in the spring of 2000 to bring JKD, kali, and silat to the Midwest, preserve and perpetuate the art & philosophy that Bruce Lee created, and help people use the martial arts as a tool for physical, mental, spiritual discovery, and enlightenment. |
![]() | Jay DiazJay Diaz began his martial arts career in his youth studying Tae Kwon Do. In 1996 he discovered the Filipino martial arts while on a personal mission to reconnect with his cultural heritage. His interest in the martial arts revitalized, he also explored other arts including Wing Chun, Aikido, and Tai Chi. Since meeting Cass Magda in 1997, he has focused his training on Kali, Silat, and Jeet Kune Do. He has also recently discovered yoga and practices regularly. Jay has been the senior student of Hoy's Martial Arts Academy since its inception in 2000 and is a certified Magda Institute Association instructor. He also had the privilege of spending 2001-2002 in Los Angeles training at the Magda Institute. |
